Marketing and Communications Manager, Scottish Ensemble

The Marketing & Communications Manager leads on SE’s marketing, digital and audience development strategy, as well as running the day-to-day marketing functions for our year-round performance and Creative Learning programme (including print materials, distribution plans, press and PR plans, digital content, social media activity, box office and FOH, and marketing partnerships). Our Administrator & Marketing Assistant provides support for many regular tasks and research. As part of SE’s small team, the Marketing & Communications Manager will also share touring responsibilities with the rest of the SE team, and in particular will be responsible for FOH and box office duties when on the road.

While the delivery of the above core marketing and communications activity is essential, the role does have an element of flexibility. Candidates with strong experience in copywriting, graphic design or film production could enjoy an opportunity to develop these skills by delivering key functions in-house, though each area could similarly be outsourced to external consultants if a candidate had strong management and negotiation skills.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience of working in an arts marketing role, preferably the performing arts, as well as a demonstrable passion for and knowledge of classical music and the wider classical music sector. We are looking for someone who can embrace SE’s ethos – creating a different sort of language for classical music – and who is inspired by the potential for ongoing audience, digital and brand development.
