Communication and VIP Relations Manager, 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair



-        Fair development:

  • Develop new territories, new ideas, new strategies
  • Team management

-        Manage Communication:

  • Conceive general fair communication: voice, values, messaging and identity
  • Coordinate relationships with returning sponsors and implement all sponsorship benefits
  • Reach out to future sponsors
  • Coordinate media and institutional partnerships
  • Main point of contact for the fair’s PR agency: coordinate PR strategy in coordination with PR agency, follow up on media requests, coordinate interviews and media coverage, create and organise media content
  • Coordinate visual identity with fair’s designers; ensure consistency of voice; follow up on all delivered design pieces
  • Coordinate website, App and Online Viewing Rooms
  • Coordinate social media and newsletters strategy and follow up on implementation by team
  • Supervise fair’s photographer, videographer and virtual tour
  • Supervise ticketing in advance and during fairs

-        Manage VIP Relations:

  • Coordinate original and engaging programmes of pre, during and post-fair events in each fair’s location (London, New York and Marrakech) and in other locations depending on the fair’s activities: create or select events, chose all vendors, suppliers and partners, supervise event logistics and coordinate communication strategy
  • Manage 1-54 Friends membership programme
  • Coordinate all VIP communication, including VIP Invitation mailings
  • Welcome VIP guests at fairs
  • At 1-54 Marrakech: organise museum patrons trips to the city in coordination with museum teams
  • Coordinate catering at each fair
  • Research and attend events that are related to 1-54: galleries and museums openings, conferences, performances
  • Present 1-54 to new audiences in this context, and meet new clients
  • Cultivate relationships with museums patron teams


  • Fluent English; notions of French
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary African art
  • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills; both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Approachable, flexible and professional manner
  • Strong Team player
