Freelancer required to co-ordinate and develop a showcase for this year’s Disability Arts Festival, “Dis:Patches”, set to take place on 2nd December 2010.

The artist(s) must have experience of co-ordinating arts events / showcases, working with communities and delivering drama, writing or visual arts projects.

The theme will be Challenging Attitudes, working with disabled community groups, to create a performance / visual arts event that will explore people’s attitudes to disability.

There will be a fixed fee of £6k to create the content of the showcase with the groups involved. Artists are asked to give an approximate breakdown of costs, bearing in mind all fees, materials and expenses. An additional budget will be made available to bring in extra freelance artists if necessary.

Selection criteria

  • Knowledge of creative writing, drama and performance, visual arts techniques.
  • Experience of working with communities, including disabled people.
  • Experience of planning and managing projects.
  • Public Liability insurance to £5 million/CRB certificate

Workshops and rehearsals will start in September for three months leading up to the project and the artist(s) will be expected to work with the groups for one or two days a week.
