Job: Documentation Assistant (12 month post)

Salary: £22,627 - £24,491

We have an exciting opportunity for a Documentation Assistant to work with the British Empire & Commonwealth Collection which is based at Bristol Archives.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Archivists and Documentation Assistant (who works on the objects), to increase use of this unique material at a time when its relevance is becoming more and more apparent. We are looking for someone with a demonstrable commitment to exploring the impact of the UK’s colonial history and telling previously untold stories. You will also need experience of working in a culture or heritage environment, strong communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. Your role will be to list archive collections, answer enquiries, and help to manage digital assets such as photos, film, and audio recordings. You will also assist with workshops, events, and activities, and create social media content.
