About acta

acta is a well-established community theatre based in Bedminster, Bristol. Our mission is to create high quality, relevant theatre with vulnerable and socially isolated people from all generations and cultures through an open access and free creative programme. We place diversity, equality and inclusion at the heart of what we do.

acta is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England, and receives further funding from The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, BBC Children in Need, and St Monica’s Trust amongst others. We are based in our own premises in BS3 that includes a 90 seat theatre, studio, café and offices, as well as a community garden.

What we are looking for

The role would suit an existing Manager with the relevant financial acumen and accompanying skillset, or indeed someone who is looking to progress their career and step-up into this exciting and rewarding role. Importantly, we are looking for someone with a demonstrable commitment to acta’s mission and values.

You will be a highly organised, resourceful and enthusiastic problem-solver, with excellent numerical, written and verbal communication skills and an expertise in financial management. An understanding of the arts and charity sectors would be highly desirable, alongside experience of monitoring and evaluation.

About the role

This role is a senior position within acta and is integral to the smooth running and impactful delivery of the creative programme and business operations. As Finance and Operations Manager you will be responsible for all of the financial aspects of the company’s work as well as the evaluation and monitoring processes.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the operations of the organisation that include the management of our building, the actacentre. You will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation and its environmental sustainability.
