Public Art Commission, Taplow House, Southwark, Southwark Council

Description

Funding has been awarded through Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer (CGS) programme to commission an artist / arts organisation to produce a mural near the ground level of Taplow House, East Street (near the ramp). Based near East Street market it is home to residents from a wide variety of backgrounds.

This opportunity would suit a student, graduate or emerging artist at the beginning of their career looking for a platform to realise their work in the professional sphere. There are no specific themes or design criteria for this commission, however we encourage artists to create a design that is vibrant, eye catching and appeals to a broad range of audiences and ages. We are particularly keen to hear from artists who live, work, or study locally to the area.

The final artist appointed will receive £3,000 artists’ fee paid retrospectively, to cover design development.

Please email olu.orenaiya@southwark.gov.uk for an application form and artist brief.
