NEW! Summer Landscapes: Dodd and Katz - Zoom course, RWA

Description

Mondays, 10am - 1pm | 4 weeks

Starts Monday 7 June 2021

This course will be taking place on Zoom and a selection of materials will be provided by post in advance.*

This is a 4-week course exploring the work of American artists Lois Dodd and Alex Katz (both b. 1927) with a focus on their summer landscapes inspired by Maine, NY.

In the first two sessions we will start by looking at Dodd and Katz’s work and discuss and analyse their styles and subject matter. We will experiment with their distinctively minimal approach to depicting the world around them, their decisive brush marks and use of thin oil paint. In the final two sessions we will develop our own composition in response to their styles from our own source material.

*(If class is booked after 27/05/21 we may not be able to provide all materials in time for the class)
