Event Summary
Painterly Photography is so much more than soft focus and dramatic lighting. With photography under siege by AI generated imagery, photographic strategies still have much to offer in terms of image creation. Join us for this free [c] Word session on Tuesday 3 March, at 5:30pm UK-time.
Event Description
Dr Jane Boyer, co-director of [cloud], is currently reviewing the whole of her artistic output, and in the process she is considering her use of the term 'painterly photography,' which she has frequently used to describe her photographs. She is certain what she means by this term is not what the conventional notion of this photographic genre means! For her, 'painterly photography' involves more than lighting tricks. It is an image-making strategy that underpins aesthetic thinking. In this presentation, Jane will dive into some of the bodies of work she has created over her career to examine how and why they justify the term 'painterly.' This is a free session at [c]CC Art School and we invite you to join us. By making your booking through our shop, you will secure your spot and once the zero charge checkout process is completed, you will be sent the private link to join the Zoom lecture space. If you would like to learn more about Jane's practice, the conceptual frameworks of image-making in general, or why it is important to review a whole career of art creation, then this talk is for you! This is a free event.
