Event Summary

Explore the role of storyboarding in visual storytelling in this hands-on introduction with Jay Clarke, lead storyboard artist on Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs.

Event Description

Join Jay Clarke, lead storyboard artist on Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs, for an in-depth introduction to feature film storyboarding. Drawing on over 20 years of experience working across animated and live-action films for Wes Anderson and Aardman, Jay offers an insider's perspective on storyboarding as a core tool of visual storytelling. You will explore what storyboarding is, how it is used within the film industry, and examine examples from Isle of Dogs and Shaun the Sheep. Jay will lead a live drawing workshop, guiding you through thumbnail storyboards for a short scene from the Isle of Dogs script. Discover behind-the-scenes examples from the film, then storyboard an unseen section of script yourself, translating ideas from page to image. The session will explore key elements of film language, including camera angles, movement, animation, and posing.
