Event Summary
Event Description
Are you aged 15-18 and interested in finding out more about creative careers?
This Free,3-day insights programme offers behind-the-scenes access to NPG, where you will meet and work with different teams across the Gallery, gaining a deeper understanding of what type of careers and pathways are available
Going Pro will offer sessions with colleagues from across the Gallery to learn more about:
- What sort of jobs exist within Galleries
- What those jobs look like on a day-to-day basis
- What skills are useful, and who it might suit
- What training or experience you might need to pursue a job in the sector.
Over the course of the three days, you will meet a variety of teams from across the Gallery including: Curatorial & Exhibitions, Collections, Design, Interpretation, Marketing & Press, Visitor Experience, Digital, Learning & Engagement and more.
Who would Going Pro suit?
Going Pro would suit people who are intrigued about what working in a Gallery looks like. You might have some idea what you'd like to do, or you might be trying out different things to see what you like. You also may have no idea about what jobs exist in a Gallery but enjoy art, culture or history and want to find out more.
If you're open-minded, inquisitive, curious, and ready to share ideas and get stuck into activities, Going Pro would be a great programme for you!
At the National Portrait Gallery we value everyone's ideas and experiences - you do not need to be studying an art-related subject to apply. You will work across a variety of skill sets and roles, and we welcome everyone who believes in the positive effect that Museums and Galleries can have on people's everyday lives.
What's included?
- Travel Expenses of up to £90
- Contribution of £30 per person for lunch costs
