Event Summary
Event Description
York Unlocked is pleased to confirm that its much-loved Open Weekend will return this autumn, taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September 2025. The 2025 programme will once again unlock the doors to some of York's most remarkable, significant and rarely accessible buildings - all free of charge.
The two-day event, organised and run by dedicated volunteers, celebrates York's extraordinary architectural and cultural heritage. The event offers residents and visitors the opportunity to explore around 50 buildings and outdoor spaces - a compelling mix of returning favourites and exciting new additions, many of which are normally closed to the public.
Programme details and a full list of participating venues will be published on the York Unlocked website and social media channels over the summer. Building opening times vary, so be sure to check the York Unlocked website or printed program for detailed information. Please note, while entry to all sites is free, some require advance booking, especially for guided tours.

About York Unlocked
York Unlocked opens the most interesting and significant buildings in York to the public completely for free. It’s a weekend festival that allows residents and visitors to see York in a new way, and aims to educate and inspire a love of architecture.
This year the event will be on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September 2025.
York Unlocked is inspired by the success of Doors Open Days and Open House events across the UK and Europe.
