Event Summary
Event Description
Explore the work of Glasgow-based artist Trackie McLeod (b. 1993), where humour meets nostalgia and everyday culture is transformed into something new.
Taking inspiration from the streets, parks and community spaces of the West of Scotland, McLeod's work transforms the visual language of 1990s and 2000s popular culture. Sportswear and branded accessories, music references, print and found objects are reassembled through a playful and critical lens, conjuring scenes that capture the grit, humour and unguarded energy of youth. His approach combines accessibility with precision, creating works that speak both to those who recognise their source material and to new audiences encountering it for the first time.
A new commission for Charleston, this exhibition presents sculpture, textiles, print, sound and found objects that reflect McLeod's interest in how place, culture and memory intertwine. These immersive installations invite visitors to consider the formative spaces of adolescence, the social codes learned, friendships forged and identities tested and how they continue to shape us.

About Charleston
Charleston was a gathering point for some of the 20th century’s most radical artists, writers and thinkers known collectively as the Bloomsbury group. It is where they came together to imagine society differently, and has always been a place where art and experimental thinking are at the centre of everyday life.
Today, we present a dynamic year-round programme of exhibitions, events and festivals that highlight the power of art, in all its forms, to provoke new ways of thinking and living.
