Event Summary
Event Description
A Theory of Change is a powerful visual tool that maps out how change happens, linking your activities to long-term outcomes. Unlike a logic model, it begins with identifying the need for a programme and works backwards, setting out the steps required to achieve meaningful impact. As a visual representation of how change is achieved, a ToC helps to clarify the assumptions behind your work and the outside factors that might affect it. This makes it a useful tool for evaluating progress, developing programmes, and planning strategically. It also helps you to engage stakeholders and demonstrate your organisation's vision and values in a clear and compelling way.
Participants will explore the core principles of Theory of Change models and learn how to apply them to their projects. This session will help you develop a ToC model that clarifies your goals and demonstrates your impact.
The session will cover:
- Key components of a Theory of Change model: Understand how activities, outcomes, and long-term impact are interconnected.
- Identifying assumptions and external factors: Learn how to recognise potential influences on your program's success and plan accordingly.
- Using ToC models for strategic alignment: Discover how to use these models to align stakeholders, track progress, and communicate your impact to funders and partners.
When: Tuesday, 3 March 2026, 09:30 am - 11:30 am - Online via Zoom
Course Cost: £69 per person
Why Use a Theory of Change?
The ToC model enables organisations to:
- Clarify the purpose and vision of a program by starting with an identified need.
- Align stakeholders around a shared understanding of how the program will succeed.
- Monitor progress and make adjustments based on assumptions and external changes.
