The Mill Gallery, Bramley is delighted to present Friends of Photography: A Community in Focus, a joyful and inclusive exhibition celebrating a local photography collective that meets monthly in the gallery.

Running from 20 February to 27 March, the exhibition brings together photographers connected not by one style or subject, but by a shared love of taking photographs. The work on display reflects curiosity, experimentation, and the pleasure of seeing the world through a lens.

Exhibitors range from first-time participants to experienced hobbyists. Some use mobile phones, others DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, yet all share the same spirit of learning together, exchanging ideas, and enjoying photography in a supportive environment. Everyday moments sit alongside carefully composed scenes, where personal perspective is valued as much as technical skill.

Hosted by local photographer Paul Abraham, the Friends of Photography group is built on encouragement rather than competition. As Abraham says:

"As the group and the gallery go from strength to strength, this exhibition highlights that art in West Leeds is open to everyone, from any background or ability."

The group began as an open invitation to anyone who loves taking photos. Open to ages 18+, the monthly meet-ups offer a relaxed space to share work, gain tips, and connect with others. There's no pressure or pretension - just conversation, shared knowledge, and great images.

Friends of Photography: A Community in Focus captures that collective spirit: supportive, creative, and evolving. Visitors are invited to look closely, linger, and perhaps feel inspired to pick up a camera themselves.
