Event Summary

Join the latest online cohorts of The New Mothers' Writing Circle 8-week programme for mums of children under 8.

Event Description

The New Mothers' Writing Circle is a unique project which centres the experiences of mothers and their transformation in motherhood. The groups nurture small cohorts of 10 - 12 mothers, drawing on diverse narratives of motherhood from Rachel Cusk to Toni Morrison to empower women, build community and elevate voices. Using the fundamentals of creative non-fiction and lifewriting, each 8-week programme uses key themes (from Love & Wonder to Rage & Shame) to allow mothers to access their unique voice and stories. The current programmes are being taught online and will run again in April/May/June 2026. You do not need to be a writer to take part. Anyone who identifies as a mother and has a child/ren under 8 years old is welcome. NMWC aims to be intersectional, anti-racist and welcoming of mothers and non-binary people who self-identify as mothers, including those who adopt, foster, use a surrogate, are the non-birthing mother within a Queer relationship, are part of LGBTQI+ communities or are step-mothers. It is open to those becoming mothers whether in their teens or later in life, whatever level of schooling. The 8-week programme is £405. Many women use CPD budget from their employer or local arts funding to participate. There are template letters to support requests - please visit the website.
