Event Summary
PERFORMANCE: Faster than light, always 17 April 2026, 7pm
Event Description
Faster than light, always is a collaboration between British-Palestinian movement artist Sasha Shadid, Palestinian dancer Adan Azzam and Ramallah-based interdisciplinary artist Julmud. Rooted in the threatened landscape of the Cremisan Valley in Palestine, one of the last remaining green spaces surrounding Bethlehem, the performance emerges from urgency and embodied connection to the land. As ongoing occupation continues to encroach and suffocate this land, the artists turn to the body and sound as both witness and map, tracing its curves, rolling terraces and ancient trees, its contours and ecosystem that persevere in the face of erasure. This project carries its own history: collaborative movement previously split across Bethlehem and the V&A, followed by a residency in Palestine, before landing in London, where that journey now reconvenes. The performance will be staged in Mosaic Rooms' garden (weather permitting). This event is co-produced with Another Sky Festival and will be presented on its opening night. Faster than light, always was part of Sounds of Places 2025, a residency-based sound gathering exploring the sonic aesthetics of place, initiated and curated by Wonder Cabinet and transmitted through Radio AlHara.
