See Midjourney in action, hear about how it can be used to open up creative possibilities, and better understand, and discuss, where AI fits in the history of the interaction of art and technology including particularly photography. Although the main focus will be on Midjourney, similar principles apply to other AI image-generation tools. The session will finish with reflection and discussion about whether AI image-making does or might constitute a 'practice' which is or could be considered artistic, and ultimately perhaps, whether there is such a thing as 'AI Art'. This workshop will give you: - An introductory perspective on how AI image-making works and some examples of practice; - Understanding and discussion about how it might relate to other historical and recent developments in the use of technology in art; - Opportunities to ask questions about practical aspects and contribute to discussion on AI and its relation to artistic practice.
