Event Summary

Panel discussion with leading architects, activists, and thinkers on what building sustainability means today.

Event Description

Join RIBA at the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in Oxford to learn how leading architects and practitioners are translating bold ideas and values into action to shape more sustainable and regenerative urban futures. Delivered in partnership with VitrA Bathrooms, the panel features experts from Hopkins, Waugh Thistleton, Make Architects, and CIVIC SQUARE, and will be chaired by Joanna Yarrow, Chief Impact Officer at Human Nature. The speakers will share projects ranging from cultural landmarks and workplaces to neighbourhood scale civic infrastructure. Discover the new Schwarzman Centre, Europe's largest Passivhaus university building and world's first Passivhaus concert hall, while learning about the design decisions that shaped it. Learn about low-carbon materials research, how architects are balancing environmental factors with specialist building requirements, and discover radical community-powered approaches to sustainability and stewardship. In conversation with Joanna, the speakers will reflect on why prioritising the health of people and planet matters more than ever. They will explore some of the factors shaping ambitions today, and consider what's next for climate led architecture and placemaking. Tickets: General £13.20, Concession £6.60, RIBA Members £6.60 (including booking fees)
