The project is composed of three elements: From-To, an installation by Gaza's Dahaleez Collective, Common Frequencies by El Warcha Collaborative Design Studio and a rolling programme of artist takeovers. El Warcha's Common Frequencies in the upstairs gallery proposes a sonic commons: a shared environment where artists, visitors and communities collectively shape the space. Here, Mosaic Rooms becomes an informal, inhabited and open space, at the boundary between studio, rehearsal space and public forum. Constructed from reclaimed furniture and donated and found objects, the space leans into the domestic architecture of the building, with its rooms scaled for nearness and for the unhurried time of being together. In a moment when the need for genuine spaces of gathering feels urgent, sounding towards - - proposes the gallery as a place to slow down, to listen and to perhaps find a sonic language for moving through this unsteady world. Instruments, recording devices, books and listening stations remain available for use, misuse and re-use. Over the course of the project, London-based artists and interlocutors Bint Mbareh, 1000 Pounds To Survive Us, felix taylor and Aditi Jaganathan will inhabit and shape the space. Each will host their own period within it, bringing distinct sonic practices and forms of gathering into resonance, drawn from the scenes they have been building and are a part of. Moving through themes of revolutionary education, poetry, choir and the score as a form of memory, the takeovers approach sound not as something to be consumed but as a generative social practice. The invitation is to sonically implicate the body, to improvise, to linger, to sprawl, to turn toward one another. To gather instruments and friends. Those who enter may find themselves part of an ensemble - staff, resident artists and participants gathering in constellations.
