A new 2-day training programme and 4-month course, delivered in partnership with the University of Greenwich. Ideal for arts practitioners, community arts workers, oral historians, therapists, reminiscence practitioners, and health and social care professionals.
Event Description
A) 2-DAY TRAINING IN REMINISCENCE ARTS IN DEMENTIA CARE__Venue: Argenta House, 1 Aspern Grove, Camden, London NW3 2AB, Dates: Thursday 17th & Friday 18th September 2026, Time: 9:30 - 17:00 on both days.A light lunch will be served.__This experiential course will be led by highly experienced reminiscence arts practitioners and trainers, with input from volunteers and former carers. It will be certificated by the European Reminiscence Network.__B) 4-MONTH COURSE IN REMINISCENCE ARTS IN DEMENTIA CARE__Up to 10 places are available for trainees on the above course. This is for people who wish to become accredited facilitators of reminiscence groups for people living with dementia and their carers. The course involves attending, observing and participating in at least 6 out of 10 weekly group sessions of the Remembering Yesterday, Caring Today (RYCT) project with local people living with dementia and their family carers. The 10 weekly sessions will be held on Friday afternoons at Argenta House, Belsize Park from 25th September 2026.__Those who wish to become European Reminiscence Network accredited facilitators will also be required to give evidence of their ability to observe and reflect on the project through a written response, or an audio or video diary capturing their experience of the project, reflecting on the content and impact of the sessions and how far they have met the needs of the participating families.__Those successfully completing these requirements will receive accreditation as RYCT facilitators from the European Reminiscence Network. The 2-day training costs £120. Apprenticeship participants pay an additional £120 for support and evaluation.
We offer 4 subsidised training places and 2 subsidised apprenticeship places at half price for people who live or work in Camden, plus 2 training and 2 apprenticeship places for staff/volunteers from Camden Carers Centre and Age UK Camden.
