Event Description

LED BY THE LAND

This October, DAUR invites artists and creative practitioners to join us for a three-day residential creative residency exploring landscape theatre and art making in collaboration with the landscape.

Led by Mydd Pharo, Mercedes Kemp, Ellie Williams and Vicky Abbott, the residency takes place at Rosemerryn Wood in West Penwith, Cornwall, surrounded by ancient woodland, coastline and granite landscapes.

Across three days, we will explore practical and playful approaches to making work with place: listening, walking, gathering, responding, experimenting and allowing the landscape to become an active collaborator in the creative process.

Led by the Land is open to theatre makers, visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, designers, performers, filmmakers, photographers, makers and artists working across disciplines. You do not need previous experience of making outdoor or landscape-based work. We are interested in curiosity, generosity and a willingness to experiment.

The residency includes four nights at Rosemerryn, shared meals and three full days of facilitated creative exploration. Residential, non-residential and a limited number of part-funded bursary places are available.

Dates: 23-27 October 2026
Location: Rosemerryn Wood, West Penwith, Cornwall
Residential places: from £650
Non-residential: £400
Part-funded bursary places: £175

Led by the Land is an opportunity to step away from familiar ways of working, spend sustained time with other artists and ask what might happen when we stop treating landscape as a backdrop and begin making in conversation with it.

Applications are now open.
