On completion of the class participants will confidently be able to:

- Use traditional 'Swiss Darning' techniques.

-Recover dropped stitches using a 'Latch Hook'

-Understanding how to work the 'Duplicate Stitch' across a hole

- Apply techniques to different guages of knitwear

- Explore Discreet or 'Visible Mending' choices

- Learn how to re create ribbed areas (such as cuffs and edging)

- Consider different weights, colours and creative features of different yarn combinations

- Work on your own and family & friend's mending piles like a pro!

In the afternoon, Selina is offering a "Woollen Repairs Surgery", giving participants the opportunity to get advice and apply the learning from the morning session to your own items of knitwear in need of repair. Ideally these items are medium to large gauge knits to practice these newfound skills. A discount is offered when you book the full day!

Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm & 2:30 - 5:30pm

Cost: £55 or £100 (Full day option) + Eventbrite booking fee if booking online

Class Includes: Suitable needles, mending yarn and woollen swatches to practise on. Selina will also provide worksheets to aid you during and after the class.

If you are booking the full day option, please bring along items of holey knitwear to work on. Please ensure any moth eaten items have been put in the freezer for at least 1 week to kill any moth eggs that may still be dormant in the item before introducing to our studio!) You will also have access to our stash of studio mending yarns, but if you have a similar type of yarn yourself already for the repair work, that would be helpful.

About the Tutor: The class is taught by Selina Latour, a textile artist and repair specialist based in South East London. Alongside her workshops, she offers her mending services through the online platform 'The Seam'. She earned an MFA in Textiles from Concordia University in Montreal, where she specialised in mending and repair techniques.
