Event Summary
Event Description
Apply now to join The Other MA 27/28
We're looking for up to 15 artists* to join the sixth cohort. Being Essex's only art MA (of sorts), we reserve 70% of our places for artists who live or work in Essex. TOMA doesn't offer a formal qualification. You also do not need a qualification in order to apply.
With 60+ artists passing through our school in the last decade, we've learnt that TOMA is best suited to curious people who have an established creative practice which is open to change. To join us for an intensive, process-driven 15 month programme and to be part of a supportive artistic community, visit our bio!
*We use the word 'artist' in the widest sense and are open to different ways of making and thinking creatively.
Whether you're thinking of applying or not, we invite you to come along and hang out at one of our drop-in dates!
At each drop-in you can ask questions and speak to us about the programme, with past TOMA artists holding creative workshops for all ages. If you are thinking of applying and body doubling helps you when it comes to admin, you can also come along to work on your application in a friendly space.

About The Other MA (TOMA)
The Other MA (TOMA) supports artists through an intensive artist-led education programme and a public programme rooted in Southend on Sea, Essex.
We are an alternative art school, in that our learning offers are not accredited in the traditional sense. Instead of formal qualifications, we share access to rigorous, active and responsive learning that is proven to have a meaningful and lasting impact for artists.
