Event Summary
Event Description
We teach students to bring art to public spaces, engaging others in the creative process. Our course in participatory muralism is an intensive hands-on training, combining theory and practice. Each student will lead their own socially engaged participatory mural project in the community. As a grand finale, you will form part of a team to create a high profile, large-scale mural, led by London School of Muralism and Artmongers founder Patricio Forrester. The course is run by artists, for artists.
This course is for adult learners who:
- would like a career in muralism & want to increase their social impact
- have a passion for painting, drawing & visual arts
- are open-minded about learning new approaches, styles & ways of working
- are creative problem-solvers & team players
- want to work collaboratively with others
- have, or would like to develop, entrepreneurial skills
- can commit fully to the course dates (January-May 2027)
- have the potential to pursue a meaningful career as a muralist
You do not need any prior qualifications to apply.
Course Dates: From the beginning of January to mid-May 2027
Taught sessions twice a week: Wednesday evenings (6-9pm) & Saturday mornings (10am-1pm).
Location: Deptford Town Hall, Goldsmiths Campus in New Cross, South East London.
Fees & Scholarships
There are 12 fee-paying places, offered at two rates:
Full fee: £2,100 (50% subsidised)
Concessionary fee: £1,250 (70% subsidised)
This course is supported by Arts Council England funding, so every fee covers only part of the true cost of delivery. That support helps keep the course accessible, so that money is never the reason someone can't take part.
We also offer 4 full scholarships with fully subsidised tuition fees (i.e. £0, 100% subsidised) for:
2 for Black Artists from underrepresented or low-income backgrounds.
2 for women with lived experience of the justice system who are members of Clean Break Theatre Company.
