Job Summary

We are seeking an inspiring ballet educator to teach exceptional, gender neutral ballet technique and nurture the next generation of professional dancers.

Job Description

You will help students realise their full potential, contribute to a forward thinking curriculum and stay engaged with the latest developments in Dance and Higher Education.

Key objectives of the role:

To foster excellence in teaching of gender-neautral ballet techniques anfd related dance objectives

To prepare students for a professional career in dance

To nurture each student to maximise their potential

To keep abreast of Higher Education and dance related developments

To engage in the ongoing development of the curriculum through reflection and research

To provide arts administration duties related to the academic & artistic output of the School.

To work towards fulfilling the school's commitment to world-leading training and education and to promote and embody the school's vision and key values

To support colleagues and work collectively for the good of the School

Job Requirements

We require a experienced Ballet Teacher with experience of dancing female repertoire roles in a professional classical ballet company.

Experience in a similar role at a comparable dance school / conservatoire, teaching at undergraduate degree level would be an advantage.

Job Responsibilities

Preparation and teaching of ballet including ballet solos, pointe classes, pas de deux classes, ballet coaching and learning/teaching repertoire, as required.

Coordination of ballet modules, liaising with other members of the ballet faculty to ensure smooth running of assessments, solos and report writing.

Coordination and leadership of the UG Year 1 Professional Portfolio Module.

Monitoring student progress, through continued feedback, tutorials and report writing on a semesterly basis.

Conducting auditions, including online/off-site when required.

Attending staff meetings, Academic Board, Learning & Teaching Committee, Student & Staff Liaison Committee, other meetings and INSET sessions as required.

Working with the Screening Treatment Rehabilitation Unit (STRU) to ensure as safe and rapid rehabilitation of injured students.

Working with the Student Support department to sensitively address any student welfare issues.
