Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Operations & Visitor Experience, you will assist in the smooth delivery of a wide range of events and performances at our busy venue. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will provide excellent customer service whilst maintaining a safe, welcoming and well presented environment at all times.
This role would suit an individual with an interest in customer service and front of house management looking to develop their career in venue operations management.
TERMS
Role: Duty Manager (full-time, fixed-term 6 months)
Location: Conway Hall 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL
Reports to: Head of Operations & Visitor Experience
Hours: 37.5 hours based on five shifts a week worked between Monday and Sunday
Annual Leave: 24 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays (pro-rata)
Salary: £28,971.00 per annum
Job Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Experience of customer care
- Outstanding interpersonal & communications skills
- An ability to work with a wide range of people a& manage professional relationships effectively
- An ability to work on own initiative, problem-solve & prioritise workload
- An ability to remain calm under pressure & lead during emergencies
- Good time management & an ability to manage competing demands
- Physical fitness & ability to actively manage setting up event spaces, including regular lifting & moving of furniture
- Genuine enjoyment of hands-on, active work
- Good IT skills
- Willingness to work unsocial hours including early starts, late finishes & weekends
Desirable experience/skills
- Knowledge of statutory regulations & policies regarding public buildings
- Knowledge of venue health & safety requirements
- Experience of working within a contemporary cultural building
- Personal licence holder
- First aider
- Firewarden
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth delivery of all internal & external events, liaising with clients, hirers, caterers & external companies
- Set up & break down rooms for various events throughout the day, managing rapid turnover of spaces between events
- Be a highly visible & helpful presence at all times
- Manage health & safety briefings with hirers
- Contribute to a culture of customer care by providing a welcoming & accessible atmosphere for all visitors to the building
- Ensure all public areas are well presented at all times
- Assessment measures, ensure clients abide by agreed terms of hire
- Conduct regular health & safety checks including weekly fire alarm tests, record accidents & near misses
- Ensure the building complies with all licensing policies
- Prepare a daily incident report logging visitor, partner & client feedback, maintenance issues & any incidents that occur on the premises
- Communicate with fellow DMs & the Visitor Experience Manager to enure seamless handovers between shifts
