Offset Projects seeks an HR or people management expert to join our Board as we transition to charity status, supporting our mission to champion and amplify the voices of young people under 25.

Job Description

Offset Projects champions the agency, energy and ideas of under 25s. We're inspired by their activism, entrepreneurship, innovation and imagination. Their ideas are often muffled by adults' voices, and we're changing that. We place a mix of young voices offering different perspectives, opinions and lived experiences at the heart of Offset. Offset Projects is an established Community Interest Company. This year, we will transition to becoming a registered charity, marking an important and exciting milestone in our organisational development.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Board member with experience in human resources, people management, or organisational development. This role is not operational. The Board member will support the Board and Executive Directors by offering strategic advice, insight, and constructive challenge, with a particular focus on ensuring Offset Projects remains compliant with employment law, good HR practice, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Professional experience in HR, people management and/or organisational development.
  • An understanding of employment law, good HR practice, and trustee responsibilities within a charitable context.
  • A passion for empowering young people through creativity and leadership.

Time commitment:

Four Board meetings per year (mostly online), with occasional additional time for HR related advice. Board members serve a three year term, with potential reappointment. This is a voluntary role with travel expenses reimbursed.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our mission and contributing to strategy as we become a registered charity.
  • Providing strategic HR advice to ensure our policies and culture reflect our values and legal responsibilities.
  • Helping shape organisational strategy to maximise impact for young people.
  • Supporting oversight of financial planning and resource use.
  • Ensuring sound governance, ethical best practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks, including safeguarding for young people, staff and volunteers.
  • Acting as an ambassador and championing youth voice.

We're looking for someone passionate about empowering young people and committed to supporting an organisation driven by creativity and leadership.
