ARCADE is looking for experienced and passionate trustees to join our board!
Job Description
As a trustee you will support ARCADE to deliver its mission using your skills and experience, as well as acting as an advocate for ARCADE. We would particularly love to hear from applicants who have worked on an Arts Council England Creative People and Places project or have expertise in fundraising from individual givers or corporate sponsorship. As a trustee, you will be expected to attend: Four meetings each year which normally take place online at a mutually agreed time. One Away Day per year, in person, usually in Scarborough. ARCADE's productions and other events, conferences, workshops and discussions. If your capacity allows it, we might ask you for a little more of your time on a specific project or area of work. We would always agree to this with you in advance and we will do our utmost to protect your time.
Job Requirements
Essential skills and experience -Passionate about theatre, live performance and its possibilities -Experience of working in arts and culture, social change, community work, activism, law, business or other relevant areas -Experience of leadership and effectively chairing meetings -Experience of financial oversight and fundraising -Experience of advocacy, public speaking and building positive partnerships -Experience of managing risk -Commitment to equality and inclusion -Ability to think strategically and creatively -Ability to influence and negotiate -Understanding of the challenges of leading an organisation -Ability to develop a strong relationship with the Co-Director and Team to maintain balance between management and governance -Knowledge of charity law, or willingness to learn -Diplomacy skills and ability to resolve complex situations Desirable -Past experience as a trustee/chair -HR Experience -Experience of managing an Arts Council Creative People and Places project (CPP)
Job Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will: -Contribute to decision-making and play a key role in the conversations that shape our future -Help us develop and promote our mission and values, as well as holding us accountable to them -Act as an advocate for ARCADE, talking to others about the work we are doing together - Bring your experience to help us deliver and plan, influence us and help us reflect on the strategic, financial, practical challenges and opportunities we face as a new company - Help us to identify when and where we need to take action to be the most resilient, successful and forward-looking company we can be - Attend the majority of Board meetings in any one year - Put the Company's interests first and, if a conflict of interest were to arise, declare it - Keep all company business confidential
