Job Summary
Cambridge Literary Festival are looking for a new Trustee to join our board with strong fundraising experience to help secure and grow the financial sustainability of the Festival. This Trustee will provide strategic oversight and support for income generation, philanthropy and development.
Job Description
Trustees are responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction and financial sustainability of the Festival. Working closely with the Chair, fellow Trustees and Festival Staff, all of our Trustees ensure that the organisation fulfils its charitable objectives and delivers an ambitious, inclusive and financially sound programme. We're looking for a new Trustee to join our board with strong fundraising experience to help secure and grow the financial sustainability of the Festival. This Trustee will provide strategic oversight and support for income generation, philanthropy and development. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening the Festival's long-term financial resilience while supporting an ambitious cultural programme and a small, dedicated team. This is a voluntary role, with a time commitment of approx. 6 - 10 days per year.

Person Specification: For all our Trustee roles, we are seeking individuals who: Are committed to the aims and values of Cambridge Literary Festival Have sound judgement and a strategic mindset Are able to work collaboratively as part of a Board Understand (or are willing to learn about) the legal duties and responsibilities of trustees Specifically for this Fundraising role, we are particularly interested in candidates with: Experience of working in an arts fundraising role Senior-level experience in fundraising, development or philanthropy Experience of major donor fundraising, member stewardship, corporate partnerships or trusts and foundations A strong personal network relevant to arts, culture, education or philanthropy An understanding of fundraising governance and ethical best practice Strategic thinking and the ability to balance ambition with sustainability
Job Responsibilities
Alongside the responsibilities that all Trustees hold, the dedicated Fundraising Trustee will: Provide strategic guidance on fundraising strategy and income diversification Support the development of major donor, corporate sponsorship and trust & foundation relationships Advise on donor cultivation, stewardship and fundraising best practice Advise on pipeline management and stewardship of members Champion a culture of fundraising across the Board Where appropriate, open doors to potential supporters and partners Support the development of compelling fundraising cases for support Offer constructive challenge and insight on fundraising targets and performance Please see the full Trustee role description for more information.
