The Hive is an established education company focused on Outdoor Learning and Forest School. We offer holiday camps and school workshops for children aged 3 -13 in and around London and are seeking new freelance facilitators to join our small team.

Job Description

The Camp Director is responsible for leading and supporting the team of Mission Facilitators to deliver a week of dynamic and enjoyable outdoor sessions to children and young people aged 5 - 13 years, in a safe and positive environment. As the main point of contact on camp for all facilitators, campers, parents, and host venue contacts, this role is paramount to the success of The Hive. You will have a strong background in the management of an Outdoor Education setting, or equivalent, and the ability to communicate our education offer to parents with authority. You will need to be organised, safety conscious and confident in leading a facilitation team of between 3 - 15 people. You will enjoy communicating with parents and keen to chip in with the mission teams as and when needed. You will also be responsible for ensuring any additional health or learning needs are met and will lead on all First Aid on site. Job Requirements

You have at least 2 years relevant leadership experience working in Outdoor Education, or similar learning environment. You have extensive experience working with children or young people aged 5 - 13, either in a school or an informal learning setting. You have strong leadership skills and experience leading a team in an education or learning setting. You have knowledge and previous training in safeguarding and child protection, and put safeguarding and safety at the forefront of everything you do. You ideally have experience as a designated First Aider and are comfortable administering First Aid to children and young people. If you do not have First Aid training, you will be willing to undertake relevant First Aid training ahead of the role commencing. You are resilient, resourceful and able to effectively deal with challenging situations. Please see the job description on our website for the full job requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the camp including: leadership of the facilitation teams and missions, interaction with parents / carers and regular liaison with the host school. Ensure the safeguarding and safety of the children in your care at all times. Ensure close supervision of the children at all times. Ensure that you are aware of children's needs - medical, emotional, learning, etc., using the registers provided, and ensure that you attend to them. Provide assertive and supportive leadership to the facilitation team, ensuring that timings and standards are being met, alongside a motivating and vibrant team spirit. Working hours are 8am - 6pm, Monday - Friday, and the fee is £185.00 per day. Shifts are 10 hours and include a one-hour break.
