Job Description
Role: Access Support for Creative Professional Contract length: Permanent contract with immediate start. Following assessment of the role's efficacy, this post is to be reviewed with regards to indefinite extension, in line with future Access To Work grant renewal. Rate of pay: £30 per hour. This is a self-employed role as 'Support Worker' paid for by Access To Work. Payment occurs monthly following invoicing to Access To Work. Hours: flexible - minimum of 1 trip/hour per week. The Creative Professional requires somebody to accompany them to professional appointments in an Access Support capacity. These appointments are often ad hoc. Due to the ad hoc nature of the appointments, we're open to recruiting a number of Access Supports, to ensure that the Creative Professional has support whenever it's required. As such, please still consider submitting an application, even if you know that you don't have full availability throughout the week. Reports to: The Creative Professional. Probationary period: 4-weeks. Place of work: you must be based within reasonable commuting distance to North West London (NW2), the Creative Professionals base. Driving is not required. However, if you are a driver and have your own vehicle, please make this known in your application.
Job Requirements
The Access Support will: - Accompany the Creative Professional to a number of personal, medical and professional appointments as required on an ad hoc basis. - Offer physical support to the Creative Professional by assisting with their wheelchair, including pushing them. - Ensuring that the Creative Professional has access to refreshments and amenities when undertaking these appointments. - Ensure that the Creative Professional gets to their various appointments in a timely manner. - Responding to the needs of the Creative Professional as required.
Job Responsibilities
Experience/perspectives: (Essential) Your base is within a commutable distance to NW2, London. (Desired) Previous support work for Disabled clients. (Desired) A working knowledge of the arts, and a sensitivity around working artistic processes. (Desired) Knowledge of networks of creative/music/healing/holistic/therapies supports in Greater London (Desired) Trauma-informed (Desired) Knowledge of the Social Model of Disability (Desired) Awareness of nervous system (Desired) Awareness of disability (Desired) Awareness of neurodiversity (Desired) Awareness of barriers faced by those in marginalised communities (Desired) Empathy informed decision-making (Desired) Understanding of health system barriers
