Job Summary
Detail-driven Digital Artworker needed for translating client artwork into precise digital separations and production-ready files. Must be proficient in Adobe CSS and Caldera RIP in order to prepare films, laser-ready files, print outputs and provide handovers to the production team on time.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-driven Digital Artworker to act as the critical bridge between client consultation and physical print production. Your primary objective is to accurately translate client artwork into flawless digital separations and production-ready files, ensuring our printmaking team can execute the press run without technical guesswork. Working from detailed technical "Floor Sheets," you will use Adobe Creative Suite to adapt artwork for specific print formats, output film positives, prepare files for laser cutting, and manage digital print production using Caldera RIP. This is a highly focused, technical role. You will not be asked to manage social media, run staff meetings, or coordinate floor schedules. You will be part of a streamlined workflow, working closely with the Studio Operations Manager to receive briefs, and handing off perfect digital assets and films to the Matrices Manager and Lead Printers. This position is perfectly suited for a technically proficient print professional who thrives in a highly structured, collaborative studio environment and takes deep pride in precision, file organisation, and flawless print outcomes.
Job Requirements
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a print production, pre-press artworking, or studio-based technical role. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Demonstrable experience preparing artwork specifically for physical print processes (relief, silkscreen). Experience managing digital print workflows using RIP software (e.g., Caldera). High level of technical accuracy with exceptional attention to detail (e.g., trapping, registration marks, halftone generation). Strong organisational skills, including structured file management across shared server systems. Ability to work strictly to provided technical specifications (Floor Sheets) and tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment. Confident communication skills to collaborate efficiently with the studio floor. Eligibility to work in the UK.
Job Responsibilities
Digital Separations: Prepare and separate image files for print (relief, silkscreen, and digital) using the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign). Technical Adaptation: Use creative and technical problem-solving to adapt client artwork so it is fully optimised for the relevant print format and specified LPI/mesh counts. Film Output: Run accurate film positives using FilmMaker V4 and FilmGate 21. Digital Production: Run the full production of digital/gicl e print jobs from start to finish using Caldera RIP on large-format Epson printers. Vector Preparation: Prepare precise vector files for external laser cutting and CNC routing services. Iterative Revisions: Re-work artwork files based on technical feedback from Lead Printers to reflect structural adjustments during the proofing stages. Asset Management: Maintain strict organisation and management of files, folders, and technical assets across all jobs on the studio server network.
