Customer Service Assistant - (Job ref: TQY004) Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2026 Salary: £8,615.93 (£23,614.02 FTE) Hours: 13.5 hours per week (working pattern below) Location: Torquay Library Closing date: 9am, Monday 30th March 2026 Interview date: Tuesday 7th April 2026 at Torquay Library Working Pattern: Week 1 (16hrs) Monday: 1:00pm - 6:00pm (5) Friday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm (5.5) Saturday: 9:30am - 4:00pm (5.5) Week 2 (11hrs) Friday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm (5.5) Saturday: 9:30am - 4:00pm (5.5) Total Weekly Average: 13.5 hours We are looking for a Customer Service Assistant to deliver an excellent, friendly, proactive and responsive service to our customers, ensuring the best possible customer experience for all of those using Torquay Library. This is an exciting opportunity to help create a welcoming environment which offers a compelling experience for new library customers, whilst also sustaining use by existing customers. This is a frontline role and will involve working to develop and deliver excellent services and activities and customer care on a day-to-day basis. Organising and delivering events is a vital part of the role and will include children's activities, such as Bounce and Rhyme, as well as events for adults. The role includes putting together meaningful social media posts as well as creating posters and selling the services to the community. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be involved in planning and running activities, supporting customers frontline with queries, providing IT assistance, fundraising and promoting all that library services have to offer.
