Job Description
Each school term (every 3-4 months), Nest at Home delivers a box of arts materials to the homes of experienced foster carers who support 6-10 families as part of the Mockingbird programme. As of February 2026 there are 275 of these Mockingbird communities across the UK and this number continues to grow. All of these Mockingbird communities are invited to engage with the Nest at Home project. Nest at Home provides boxes of art materials so that these families can explore creativity, share experiences and build connections together. We are looking for artists who are able to design, source, assemble and dispatch these boxes and deliver an online workshop to the foster carers to demonstrate the activities. You will receive operational support from the Mockingbird Team including invoice templates. Project Artist Fees Material Costs: £30 material and packaging costs per box (our team will pay for postage of assembled boxes and support logistics) Minimum fees (50 boxes purchased): 6 days at £285 per day (£1852.50 total) - Suggested structure: planning day x 2 days, assembling/packaging x 3 days, posting x 1 days Plus 1 x half day at £157 for workshop (preparation time plus 1.5 hour delivery) The artist may flex their 6.5 days as they see fit to deliver the project within deadlines as agreed with the charity (usually within 3 months). We may be buying anything from 50-250 boxes. As detailed above, we will commission 6 days of work per 50 boxes purchased. Do email us if you'd like any further clarity. Based on previous engagement, we will likely commission 100 of these boxes to be designed, assembled and dispatched by the artist. This can be done in batches of 50 in a 3 month period with deadlines agreed between the artist and the charity. Exact numbers will be determined by the number of sign-ups. If you consider yourself to have a maximum capacity please make this known to us when you apply.
