This is an opportunity to bring your finance expertise into a creative context to support a small music charity making a big impact in healthcare.
Our board meets in person four times a year in Brighton; extra time in between meetings is required and is agreed with the CEO as appropriate but our current trustees offer around 8 hour quarter which includes preparing for and attending meetings and extra hours working on their particular area of responsibility. We prefer to meet in person, but some meetings can be held online or in a blended format.
Treasurer Trustee - you will support the CEO to review current finance processes to create efficient systems suitable for our small charity and will support with cash flow, budgeting and risk reviews. The Treasurer is responsible for quarterly finance reports to the Board and will assist the CEO with monthly book keeping tasks. This year, we are taking steps towards diversifying our income and increasing financial stability; the Treasurer will have a significant role within this.
You don't need previous trustee experience - enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn are just as valuable.

Job Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and cash flow.
- Ability to analyse budgets, forecast income and expenditure
- Commitment to ensuring financial transparency, good governance, and compliance with Charity Commission requirements.
Desirable Qualities
- The ability to review and reflect as part of a team
- Understanding of grant funding, restricted income, or reserves management.
- A strategic thinker who can connect financial decisions to wider organisational goals.
- Collaborative, clear communicator with good judgement and integrity.
- A pro-active approach to solving problems
- Knowledge of XERO finance software.
Job Responsibilities

About Wishing Well Music for Health
Across Sussex and Surrey, we are turning clinical places into cultural spaces to support the wellbeing of people of all ages in hospital. Hospitalisation can be a time of isolation and a decline in general wellbeing. We tackle this by bringing live music right to the heart of healthcare where the whole hospital community can get involved. Every year, we deliver around 300 participatory music sessions in hospitals, reaching 1750 people.
