Job Summary

West Yorkshire Print Workshop (WYPW) is seeking a Chair, a Treasurer and Trustees to join our Board at a pivotal moment in our organisation’s development.

Job Description

WYPW (www.wypw.org) is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and a vibrant, artist-centred hub for printmaking. For over 40 years we have supported artists and communities through studio space provision, specialist print facilities, exhibitions and learning programmes. We are now entering an exciting new chapter, exploring a potential expansion and relocation, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund through our BluePRINT project.

Job Requirements

We are keen to hear from people who are curious, committed and motivated to help shape the future of printmaking in West Yorkshire and beyond. We value lived experience alongside professional expertise and warmly welcome applications from people whose perspectives are currently underrepresented at Board level, including younger trustees (under 35).

We are particularly interested in experience in one or more of the following:

  • Excellence in printmaking, learning and community engagement

  • Finance, audit and risk (Treasurer role)

  • Business development and strategic growth

  • Marketing and communications

  • Fundraising and philanthropy

  • Legal, HR, governance and compliance

  • Property and capital development

The Chair will provide inclusive and empathetic leadership to the Board, work closely with the Director and the team, champion artistic excellence and equity, diversity and inclusion, and act as a visible ambassador for WYPW.

Job Responsibilities

Trustees play a vital role in shaping WYPW's strategic direction and ensuring strong governance. Board members:

  • Attend four Board meetings per year (online or in person)

  • Attend the AGM

  • May join optional sub-groups or away days

  • Provide strategic insight, guidance and advocacy

The Chair is appointed for a three-year term. Trustees and the Treasurer are appointed for two-year terms. No prior trustee experience is required.
