About Us
Bodies in Action is an LGBTQ+-led contemporary dance company transitioning to a CIO. Supported by Arts Council England and Sport England, we deliver high-impact wellbeing programs like 'Into Connection'. We are seeking a dedicated Trustee to provide strategic oversight during this pivotal growth phase.
Core Objectives

Finance & Governance: Oversee budgeting, reporting, and CIO compliance.

Advocacy: Champion our mission within professional and community networks.

Safety: Ensure high standards of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.
What We're Looking For In line with our mission, applicants must identify as LGBTQ+. We are seeking expertise in:

Accounting: Financial management or auditing (ideally in the non-profit sector).

Fundraising: Experience securing grants (ACE/Sport England), individual giving, or sponsorships.
Key Responsibilities

Attend four board meetings per year (in-person or remote).

Approve key policies (Safeguarding, Diversity, Data Protection).

Contribute to strategic decision-making alongside Artistic Director Julian Nichols.

We are seeking a dedicated individual with a strong commitment to LGBTQ+ representation and community-led arts.

Professional Expertise: We are looking for candidates with a proven track record in Accounting (financial management, reporting, and oversight) OR Fundraising (diversifying income across grants, individual giving, and corporate partnerships).

Commitment: The ability to contribute effectively during our transition from a CIC to a CIO, ensuring robust governance and long-term sustainability.

Job Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will provide strategic oversight and ensure Bodies in Action remains a sustainable home for inclusive movement.

Governance: Actively participate in Board meetings (typically quarterly) to steer the organisation's strategic direction during its transition to a CIO.

Financial Oversight: For those with accounting expertise, helping to ensure robust financial management, project allocations, and transparent reporting as we scale.

Income Generation: For those with fundraising expertise, supporting the strategy to diversify income across public grants (e.g., ACE, Sport England), individual giving, and corporate partnerships.

Compliance & Risk: Working with fellow trustees to ensure legal compliance with Charity Commission regulations, including safeguarding duties and financial accountability.
