Job Summary

This is a deputy stage management position with Devon Opera for the opera Carmen at the Northcott, Exeter in July 2026.

Job Description

We are looking for an Opera experienced DSM to run our book and call the show as well as facilitate our get in and out of The Northcott Theatre. The job would run from the 14th July until the 25th July not including Sunday 19th July. Performances are on the 24th and 25th of July at The Northcott and we will be rehearsing at Theatre Alibi in Exeter.

we will be performing with a full cast and an onstage quintet lead by our M.D

We are offering a daily rate of £140 for this job.

Job Requirements

A willing and cheerful attitude.

Ability to read a vocal score and Call a show.

Organisational skills.

Teamworking.

Excellent time keeping

DBS is an advantage

Job Responsibilities

Ensuring the smooth running of our show with our Stage Manager (who is also responsible for wardrobe and props) The team will comprise LX designer and tech staff from the Northcott. Stage Manager, Set and Costume Designer and Costume Assistant, Director and Assistant to the Director.

Liasing with the technical crew at the Northcott and with our set providers during the contracted period.

Keeping the book and calling the show. (Operatic experience necessary although this job would suit a newly qualified person from BYO or similar)
