Lichfield Garrick is looking for a Drama Facilitator with a specialism in working with people living with Dementia to lead our Living Stories project.

Job Description

Living Stories is designed to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia in Lichfield City. The role involves visiting local Care Homes and the Memory Caf to work sensitively with participants and draw out stories from their lives and present-day experiences. These stories will be shaped into spoken word pieces or storytelling performances, shared either by participants themselves, by the facilitator/professional performer, or through a combination of both.

Job Requirements

Activities will include regular visits to local Care Homes and the Memory Caf , one-to-one and small group storytelling sessions, the development of spoken word or storytelling pieces shaped from participant contributions, and informal sharings or performances within the care setting where appropriate. All activity will be delivered with flexibility and sensitivity, and in close collaboration with care staff.

Job Responsibilities

You will be an imaginative, approachable, and inspirational artist with experience or expertise in working with people living with Dementia and their families and carers. You will work closely with the Community Producer, as well as an assistant facilitator. We are open to working with a more than one artist with different specialisms to deliver the project, or with one person who can work regularly with the participants. RATE OF PAY: £2,300 in total for the project, including preparation and travel. A budget will be provided for project materials. The project will be 11 half day sessions between April and July 2026 (totalling 5.5 days over 4 months). PROJECT DURATION: Sessions to be arranged between April-July 2026.
