Job Summary

All Saints Haggerston PCC is seeking a dynamic and community-rooted Heritage Engagement Officer to lead and deliver a vibrant programme of heritage-based activities as part of A Living Heritage of Welcome, a one-year Resilience project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Job Description

Running from January 2026 to December 2026, A Living Heritage of Welcome is the scoping and planning phase of a two-part capital renewal project. Phase 1 includes essential remedial works, feasibility and sustainability planning, audience development, and a pilot engagement programme celebrating the living heritage of All Saints and its surrounding communities.

Community engagement, through heritage activities is a key element of this project. The project particularly celebrates Hackney's carnival traditions as an expression of intangible cultural heritage, working in partnership with local organisation One Paradise and other community stakeholders.

The Heritage Engagement Officers main outputs will be based around:

Co-curating and producing an exhibition that showcases the legacy of All Saints Haggerston and the wider Hackney community (inc gathering oral histories, creating interpretations and liaising with local Archives)

Co-curating and co-producing a community food fair, with wraparound activities (including carnival workshops and performances).

Capturing stories, recipes and proverbs, as well as co-curating and co-producing our 'Pepper & Proverbs' that features recipes, biographies and proverbs representing the local community

Supporting the design and delivery of textile workshops with the Artist In Residence

The Heritage Engagement Officer will work closely with clergy, PCC members, volunteers, a resident artist, and local partners to embed consultation, evaluation and co-creation into the heart of the programme.

The role would be approx 1 day per week (8 hours per day) from April to December 2026. £10,800 Total Fee.
