Job Summary
Job Description
Trigger is creating a new story for Ashdown Forest that uses imagination, play and storytelling to encourage nature connection and to care for this landscape which holds environmental and cultural significance for the next 100 years. Through a series of interactive performances and events, visitors will be invited to explore the Forest where Christopher Robin once played, meeting a new character and discovering the natural world through curiosity. Alongside this, Trigger will deliver a Learning and Participation programme which will include workshops, interactive events and a bespoke activity pack.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong experience in outdoor performance, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to deliver safe, high-quality work in environmentally sensitive and weather-dependent settings.
LOCATION:
- Rehearsal, Event delivery, get in and get out: Ashdown Forest, Wych Cross, Forest Row, RH18 5JP
- Event delivery at Touring venues & site visits: 5 locations across the Wealden district
- Planning and preparation: Remote working
TIMELINE:
- Rehearsal and performance timeline for the project is as follows:
- Rehearsal Week 1: 18th May - 23rd May
- Rehearsal Week 2: 14th-17th July
- Live Event at Ashdown: 18th-19th July
- Tour delivery x 5 locations in Wealden district: 1st August 8th August 15th August 22nd August 31st August
FEE:
- Pre-production: 2 days (2 says x£180) = £360
- Rehearsal week 1 6 days: = £800
- Rehearsal week 2 and Ashdown forest event delivery - 6 days £800
- Touring prep 2 days (2 says x£180) =£360.00
- Touring delivery 1 day per location (5days x £180) = £900
- Total: £3220 + Holiday allowance.

Job Responsibilities
The Company Stage Manager will have a wide variety of responsibilities, please be aware this is a reduced list, for a full breakdown of responsibilities please see job brief.
Pre-Production:
- Manage all performance / rehearsal schedules.
- Prepare green / backstage requirements.
- Contribute to puppet-specific planning.
Rehearsal:
- Day-to-day stage management.
- Rehearsal notes and reports.
- Track physical workload and performer rotation planning for puppet operators.
- Monitor company wellbeing.
Ashdown Forest Event:
- Lead on performance stage management.
- Oversee performances.
- Brief stewards and volunteer teams.
- Maintain health and safety.
August touring:
- Lead on performance stage management.
- Lead cast management.
- Conduct puppet checks.
- Ensure consistency of performance quality.
- Health and safety management.
Post-Project:
- Complete final reports.
- Contribute to project evaluation, ensuring clear handover notes.
