About Writing Our Legacy
Founded in 2012, Writing Our Legacy CIC is an arts and heritage organisation that enables Black, Asian and ethnically diverse/BPOC people to tell their stories through writing and the creative arts. As an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (2023-27), we give writers and creatives a platform and community to feel supported, nurtured, and empowered throughout the creative pipeline, from first draft to publication.

We share stories and heritage of diaspora communities, bringing them to life through theatre, spoken word, publications, residencies, workshops, and festivals. Our year-round programme includes weekly creative writing workshops, monthly socials for writers of colour, retreats, community talks, and professional development opportunities.

Over 12 years, we've built a trusted reputation for supporting diverse creatives on their artistic journeys while producing events that invite audiences of all backgrounds to learn about and participate in the rich cultural heritage of diaspora communities in the UK.
