This artist will be instrumental in leading the direction and progress of our network-wide choir (Spark) and will be included in all aspects of the ensemble’s management, both musical and operational, taking on the responsibility of principle conductor.

Job Description

The Spark Choir comprises the most enthusiastic young singers from across our network of schools. Singers come from a range of backgrounds and levels of experience and learn a diverse set of repertoire across the year, arranged specifically for the choir so that they can access the music and develop musically. The Spark Choir rehearses on six Saturdays across the year in intensive rehearsals, as well as undertaking a weekend residential trip mid-year, and taking part in the end-of-year Ark Music Gala performance at the Barbican Centre.

Ark's Inspiring Excellence programme is designed to provide our most committed musicians with intensive musical training in ensemble music-making. Learning from a diverse team of Teaching Artists and each other, each ensemble explores a wide range of music and creative processes.

The Lead Teaching Artist with responsibility for Ensemble Leadership is a key leadership role on Ark's Inspiring Excellence framework. This Artist will be instrumental in leading the direction and progress of the relevant ensemble and will be included in all aspects of the ensemble's management, both musical and operational, taking on the responsibility of principle conductor.

*Remuneration*

For a standard 6-hour call: Lead Teaching Artists working in London are paid £240
