Job Summary
Job Description
We are hoping to recruit 3 Stage Managers that will lead the stage management of each space which will be home to 8 new productions.
The Stage Manager will participate in the effective and efficient delivery of the Housemates Festival at Brixton House. They will work within the Production department and, as such, is expected to make a positive contribution to its development and to the success of Brixton House as a whole. Brixton House aspires to the highest quality in its production values and in the delivery of all Production services and this Stage Manager will have a key role in achieving high standards of production and quality, as well as developing and maintaining high standards.
Housemates Festival puts the voices and perspectives of those not currently centred in mainstream funded culture at the centre. With opportunities to stage new work declining in recent years, we recognise the importance of investing in new artists and are proud to continue providing opportunities to support emerging creatives. Some subject matters in our productions may be sensitive or challenging. The Festival takes place at Brixton House across Theatre 1, Theatre 2 and Studio 5 throughout September.
Job Requirements
Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of relevant legislation, for example Working at Height / COSHH
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Good props making skills, using a wide range of materials and methods
Ability to plan, schedule and manage the output of a production team
Experience in producing risk assessments and managing safety in an arts environment
Good team player
Experience of working directly with Creative staff
Strong communication skills
Proven experience of working within a theatre Stage Management team in a leadership role
Knowledge and experience of current Health and Safety issues and practice within the UK performing arts industry
Operating Productions
Able to work flexibly including evenings and weekends
Job Responsibilities

Productions
Manage and participate in the delivery of all Stage Management services in pre-production and performance, including propping, rehearsals, production weeks and performances.
Manage the assets, environment, tools, equipment and machinery in the Stage Management areas of responsibility.
Promoting a positive attitude towards health and safety in the Stage Management and performance areas of Brixton House Theatre productions and adopting a proactive approach to challenging unsafe work practices in the work environment.
Stage Managing
Managing the manufacturing, adapting, and sourcing all stage and scenic Stage Management aspects of Brixton House productions and events.
Actively participating as a member of the Stage Management team in the delivery of:
Rehearsals
Props, Furniture and Dressings
Performances
Turnarounds / Setups
Engagement Activities
Costing and planning remaining productions and projects
