Heritage Crafts is the national charity set up to support, safeguard and celebrate traditional craft skills across the UK. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly organised Membership Officer to join our small but dedicated team.
This is a critical role where you will act as the face of the organisation for our members, growing our community of makers and enthusiasts, and ensuring they receive an exceptional experience. Through managing our Makers Directory, sending regular communications, and coordinating real-world events and online communities, your work will directly contribute to the sustainability of the UK's most precious heritage skills.

Job Requirements
Essential criteria:
Relationship building - Proven experience of working with diverse groups of people and building positive professional relationships.
Communication - exceptional written and verbal skills, with the ability to adapt your tone for different audiences (from formal reports to social media).
Organisation - impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload without close supervision.
Digital literacy - high level of IT proficiency, including experience with MS Office and a willingness to master new digital tools quickly.
Administration - experience in a role involving data management, record keeping or complex scheduling.
Self management - highly motivated and disciplined when working remotely, with a reliable home office setup (broadband and phone access).
Mission alignment - a demonstrable interest in traditional crafts or the heritage sector, and a commitment to championing diversity and representation within it.
Job Responsibilities
Act as the enthusiastic first point of contact for all members, delivering exceptional service that reflects the values of the organisation.
Manage the membership journey - processing sign-ups, renewals and payments while proactively reaching out to lapsed members.
Oversee the Makers Directory and members' portal, providing technical support to help makers showcase themselves effectively.
Moderate and foster engagement within online communities, including Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
Lead on membership communications and content creation, including tiered newsletters, the 'Meet-a-Maker' series, video updates and online events.
Empower and support our volunteer regional coordinators to deliver successful local meetings, both online and in person.
Organise an annual Members' Month including additional online content, a Maker Showcase publication, and online and real world events.
