We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sales Assistant to join our team. The role will be primarily client-facing, and you'll be working alongside our rare book specialists. You will play a key role in ensuring the shop runs like clockwork, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining impeccable presentation in our Mayfair shop and gallery.
What does the hiring process look like?
Applicants can expect the following:
Application review: we aim to respond to all applicants within two weeks. Please note, we do note provide individual feedback at this stage.
First meeting: in person or via Teams, with our Sales Manager (Luke) and Shop Manager (Pablo). Usually, 30mins to 1hr.
Second meeting: ideally in person, with our Head of Cataloguing and Shop Manager (Pablo) - to include a brief meeting with our Owner/Executive Director.
Offer stage: our HR Manager will be in touch within 2 days of your final meeting, with our offer to you.
If you interview with us but are unsuccessful, our HR Manager will be in touch within a few days with personalised feedback.
Job Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
Be comfortable and confident speaking with a wide range of clients, from individuals to institutions, both in-person and over emails.
Resourceful and pragmatic, able to solve problems quickly and keep calm under pressure.
A background in luxury retail is key: you know what it takes to provide exceptional service.
Excellent spoken and written English.
Highly organised and detail-oriented
Experience in working collaboratively within a team.
A natural sense of style and presentation, with the ability to create eye-catching displays and ensure the shop always looks its best.
Demonstrable strong literary interests.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Handle sales enquiries and correspondence with clients from our website, phone calls, and catalogues.
Assist in-store customers and visitors, providing a high level of service and knowledgeable advice.
Represent the business at trade fairs, with occasional overseas travel.
Support shop logistics, including setting up displays, opening and closing the shop, receiving deliveries, and coordinating with our shipping and marketing teams.
Maintain and enhance the store's appearance, ensuring it is immaculate by arranging and updating window and floor displays, with an eye for design and attention to detail.
Take care of day-to-day administrative tasks like tracking stock, processing orders, and handling deliveries to ensure the shop stays well-organized and stocked.
Look for ways to improve operations and customer service, proactively ensuring everything runs smoothly.
