Job Summary
Job Description
This project is funded by the Esm e Fairbairn Foundation and the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI) Museum Trustees with a total grant of just under £100,000. The project will explore the rich experience of armed forces families including the spouses, parents and children of military families. Through collecting a series of new oral histories and an extensive programme of research, we will improve and diversify our knowledge of the military history of Doncaster and the KOYLI. The voices of current and ex-military families will be amplified and secured for the future, making the regimental collection and Heritage Doncaster military collections relevant for wider audiences in the future. Armed forces families will also work with local artists and through regular sessions, create artwork(s) representative of their experiences.
Heritage Doncaster is seeking an evaluation consultant to help us to understand the impact of the project and its legacy for the project partners, participants, and our staff. This would involve supporting Heritage Doncaster staff to evaluate the core outputs of the project, specifically:
- a co-created art project with armed forces families
- growth and development of oral history collection
- volunteer experiences and skills development
- staff upskilling and organisational development
A fee of £5000 is payable for the above contract, subject to Doncaster Council's standard terms and conditions. The invitation to submit does not constitute an offer.
Job Requirements
The consultant would be required to:
- Have experience in heritage and museum project evaluation
- Understand the scope and outcomes of the project and understand specific additional needs of project participants
- Agree the content and method of the evaluation with the project team, producing a system that is complementary to our existing evaluation processes, specifically in a health and wellbeing context
Job Responsibilities
- Be flexible in adjusting the content/ format of the evaluations to different project audiences and partners
- Work closely with the project team, and wider staff group within Heritage Doncaster
- Interview project participants, volunteers and staff members on site in Doncaster and remotely
- Produce a final report for use by both the project funder and Heritage Doncaster staff
