Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive AV Technician to join our team at Ibraaz, a multidisciplinary arts and cultural venue in Central London. The role is central to delivering our public programme of exhibitions, talks, film screenings, performances and live music. Salary is £30,00 - £33,000 per annum

Job Description

With a newly installed d&b sound system and Unilumin LED wall, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing our technical standards.

Confident balancing technical precision with creative problem solving, you will ensure AV systems are set up, operated and maintained to a professional standard, supporting artists, partners and audiences.
Working closely with programme, production and operations colleagues, you will support in delivering technical requirements across activity, support visiting creatives, and contribute to the upkeep and improvement of equipment and spaces. The role include some responsibility for preparation, operation and troubleshooting of AV systems, health and safety compliance, and helping ensure smooth, high quality delivery across the programme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation, set up and delivery of all AV elements for events, ensuring technical requirements are met and delivered safely and professionally.
Keep the Director of Programmes informed of equipment needs and report any faults or issues promptly.
Undertake work across technical disciplines, including sound, video and lighting.
Familiarity with and interest in current sound and AV practices and developments in new technology
Support maintenance and improvement activity, including record keeping, report writing, database and inventory updates, and the organisation and upkeep of technical spaces.
Support freelance technicians where required.
Foster a positive working relationships with staff, artists and partners.
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, and that of others, in line with Ibraaz health and safety procedures.
Support the Specialist Sound Consultant in delivering larger productions at the venue, concerts performances and installations
Make recommendations to Ibraaz programme team on AV solutions and best practice for artists projects and temporary installations

Job Requirements

Person Specification - Essential
Familiarity with current digital technologies, especially Dante with proficiency in problem solving network issues
Experience with AV networking, including NDI protocols and tools. AV experience with Mitti, Qlab, and OBS software.
Experience with Film and video with a good understanding of codecs, file compression, digital video and display resolutions.
Some experience with Yamaha Digital Audio control especially DM-series consoles
Some basic experience with D&B Audio Systems
5 year's minimum experience of AV delivery in an arts or cultural venue, working in live events and installation.
Interest and passion for contemporary arts, with some experience working in galleries or artistic spaces
Experience working with visual tech (projection, LED and LCD screens), film, video and laptop presentation playback
First line maintenance on a variety of A/V equipment
Support with PAT testing

Job Responsibilities

Capable of working unsupervised and running AV production fit ups from pre-rigging to delivery
Ability to familiarise with new departmental AV equipment via manuals, online forums, training and self-motivated learning sessions
Ability to work on one's own initiative and communicate effectively.
Ability to focus, react quickly and work under pressure.

Person Specification - Desirable

Experience working with d&b sound system, Yamaha DM3 and D7 digital desks
Dante Cert Level 1 Experience with Dante Controller and DVS would be desirable
Capacity to carry out physical duties, including lifting and moving technical equipment, in line with health and safety guidance

Working Conditions
Variable schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional late nights
Manual handling, working at height, and use of technical tools/equipment
On-call support may occasionally be required during major events - supporting the wider production team remotely if required
