Job Summary
Job Description
Gaelic language and culture is an important aspect of life here in the Highlands and Islands. Song, poetry, music, art and dance have always been at the heart of the language and even though Gaelic is a minority language today there is a lively community of fluent speakers, learners and supporters here in the Highlands.
At Eden Court we all play a key role in supporting Gaelic language and culture, in welcoming Gaelic speakers and in enabling more people to use and experience Gaelic language and culture through the arts. Due to our varied artistic programme, we are able to offer Gaelic cultural experience through a range of genres, including theatre, music, film and visual art, and in our producing work we have a particular interest in the crossover between art forms. More can be read about our commitments here.
Eden Court has had a Gaelic Project Manager in post since April 2023, funded by B rd na G idhlig. This role has successfully implemented Eden Court's Gaelic Language Plan and expanded Gaelic awareness and usage within the organisation. Particular successes include our Cruinn C mhla: Gaelic Acoustic Sessions, implementing Gaelic drama and under 5s music classes, hosting regular Gaelic film events and offering Gaelic Awareness classes to all Eden Court staff. With funding secured up until March 2028, this is an ideal time for someone to build upon the strong foundations we already have in place and to continue to grow the role within Eden Court.
