Relish Theatre is seeking an experienced and highly organised Assistant Director to join the creative team for Acid's Reign. This role will support the Director throughout the full lifecycle of the production from rehearsals through to performances in both London and Edinburgh.

This is a dynamic and hands-on position, ideal for someone confident in managing rehearsal processes, supporting creative development, and working closely with understudies and cover casts.

Contract & Fee
Fee: £631 per week + holiday pay
Accommodation provided in Edinburgh
Total Engagement: Approximately 5.5 weeks

Schedule
Prep Period: Half-week prior to rehearsals
Rehearsals: 8th-27th June
Production Week (London): w/c 29th June
Previews: 2nd-4th July
Edinburgh Run: 1st-9th August plus travel days

Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Director during pre-production to help realise the creative vision
Attend all rehearsals, taking clear and detailed notes on direction, blocking, and changes
Act as a key communication link between the creative team, cast, and stage management
Support the transition from rehearsal room to performance across both London and Edinburgh runs
Lead and run rehearsals for understudies and swing performers
Ensure all cover cast members are fully prepared, confident, and integrated into the production
Maintain accurate and up-to-date rehearsal documentation, including blocking and script changes
Step in to independently lead rehearsals when required

Person Specification
Proven experience as an Assistant Director/Director
Strong experience working with understudies and/or swing performers
Confidence in independently leading rehearsals
